SAUGUS – Taggers hit a Saugus park over the weekend, marking brand-new play equipment with white supremacist graffiti. The markings at Santa Clarita Park on Seco Canyon Road were so offensive that cleanup crews covered what they couldn’t remove with duct tape and paint. Santa Clarita city spokeswoman Gail Ortiz said the vandals hit during the holiday weekend and crews worked Monday and Tuesday to remove the markings from buildings and from the new $200,000 equipment. Having trouble removing the graffiti from the plastic equipment, the city called the manufacturer for advice. The city will ask its Saugus Action Committee to help keep a lookout at local parks in hopes of halting a recent citywide surge in tagging, Ortiz said. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
