Vivian Ross, also called ‘Jerry’, a 40-year-old shoemaker of Lot 58 Bulletwood Street, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice, was on Friday arraigned before Corentyne Magistrate Renita Singh on a murder charge alleging that, on July 13, he murdered painter Wayne Sundar Singh.Represented by Attorney-at-Law Mursaline Bacchus, Ross was not required toplead to the indictable charge.Dead: Wayne Sundar SinghThe 43-year-old Singh had reportedly been seen at a house at Bulletwood Street in Rose Hall Town on July 13, imbibing with several persons while gambling. An argument had reportedly ensued, and Singh had been beaten and had sustained injuries to his head. Hours after the incident, a friend had told Singh’s mother that Singh had been injured and left unconscious.Family members had rushed him to the Port Mourant Hospital, from where he was subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital. However, because of the extent of his injuries, he was being rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital when he succumbed en route to that facility. The accused, Ross, was subsequently arrested and charged.The case is being prosecuted by Inspector Aslthia Soloman.
